DiceBreaker Books is thrilled to announce its first original television series, a bold reimagining of a cult classic for the algorithm age: HASH GIRLS.
Set in the high-stakes halls of North Shore High, HASH GIRLS follows Cady Heron, a homeschooled mathlete who finds herself caught between three powerful factions: the glamorously chaotic Hash Girls, the underground crypto-anarchists of The Null Set, and the elite mathlete team led by the mysterious Wei Zhou, a transfer student rumored to mentally brute-force over a quintillion hashes per minute.
This isn’t just high school drama—it’s a full-blown war of social capital, algorithmic warfare, and digital sabotage.
The Plastics have been rebranded as the Hash Girls, a TikTok Shop trio slinging boutique weed strains under the guise of wellness. Regina George rules the school with a ring light and a ruthless streak, while Gretchen Wieners battles a TikTok anomaly that threatens to erase her legacy as the originator of “fetch.” Karen Smith floats through the chaos as the group’s accidental influencer, until her romantic entanglement with an undercover narc threatens to bring the whole empire down.
Meanwhile, Janis “Byte” Ian leads The Null Set, a fringe crypto-mining collective operating out of the school’s abandoned AV closet. With her meme-savvy partner Damian Leigh, Janis is determined to dismantle the system from the inside—until Cady’s obsession with beating Wei Zhou in the national hash competition puts their friendship on the line.
And let’s not forget Aaron Samuels, the school’s golden boy athlete on probation for repeated failed drug tests, caught between his past with Regina and his uncertain future with Cady.
Guiding them all is Ms. Norbury, a math teacher with a sharp tongue and a shadowy past in surveillance tech, who may be the only adult capable of seeing the bigger picture.

Regina’s obsession with image and influence hides a growing fear that she’s losing control of her empire to the algorithm—and to her own friends.
🎀 Ayo Edebiri as Janis ‘Byte’ Ian, leader of a fringe crypto-mining collective called “The Null Set,” which operates out of the school’s abandoned AV closet. A brilliant coder and digital anarchist, Janis is building a decentralized future—one GPU at a time. Janis’s disdain for mainstream culture blinds her to the ways she’s replicating the same hierarchies she claims to hate.
🧃 Jenna Ortega as Gretchen Wieners, a natural language processing savant whose dad invented the “fetch” compression protocol. Her conflict begins when a TikTok anomaly causes the word “fetch” to trend globally, but the algorithm credits it to a rival influencer.
🧋 Michelle Randolph as Karen Smith, the “wellness guru” of the Hash Girls brand, Karen hosts livestreams about “vibrational terpenes” and “astrological strain pairings.” Her chaotic energy and accidental wisdom make her a fan favorite and the group’s secret marketing weapon. Karen’s lack of boundaries and understanding of consequences puts the entire operation at risk - especially when she starts dating a narc.
💥Steven Yeun as Wei Zhou, the enigmatic transfer student from Shenzhen Tech Academy, whose rumored ability to mentally reverse SHA-256 hashes makes him the ultimate threat to North Shore’s supremacy. Wei’s genius isolates him. As the competition intensifies, he must decide whether to be a tool of power or a person with agency.
💇♂️Timothée Chalamet as Aaron Samuels, a popular athlete and Regina’s ex-boyfriend who becomes romantically interested in Cady. Aaron is on athletic probation after repeatedly failing drug tests, which threatens his future in sports and his standing at school. As rumors swirl about his drug use and his eligibility is questioned, Aaron struggles to maintain his reputation and figure out who he is without basketball.
🍎 Tina Fey as Ms. Norbury, the school’s math teacher and reluctant advisor to the hash competition team. Ms. Norbury starts off as a sarcastic but supportive teacher, trying to keep her students grounded amid the chaos of TikTok fame and academic pressure. Her conflict emerges when the administration pressures her to prioritize the school’s reputation over student well-being, especially as the hash competition becomes a media spectacle.
